Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her stage name Ari Lennox is an American artist and songwriter hailing who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released from the label on October 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw her release further music online including Bound. On the 21st of July in 2015, she sung on Omen's album Elephant Eyes featuring the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's reference. In the following period, she released music that circulated through Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. She appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change in 2017 and also as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video later released in September. In November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then released two more singles: One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. She then appeared to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26th, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. The music video premiered on the 20th February of 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a matter of a week it was watched by more than 3,000,000 people. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
